Davy Jones’ Locker
Created as a commission for the 40 West Arts District in collaboration with Scottie Burgess, Davy Jones’ Locker consists of a row of dynamic, bright silhouette figures running along the length of fence, showcasing current cooperative members of Pirate: Contemporary Art. Each individual exhibited their unique identity in their pose. The silhouettes are ordered chronologically, starting with the longest standing member of Pirate and ending with the newest member, expressing the passage of time. The title of the work and style of the figures allude to chalk outlines found at crime scenes - a subtle pun that speaks to the traditionally quirky, edgy nature of Pirate.
